Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts

We always have a great experience at Carousel Buffet, and this time was no different! The variety and quality of the food were excellent as always, making it a fantastic spot for our team’s CNY lunch. The atmosphere was lively, and we had a lot of fun.

However, I did notice that the dessert counter had a smaller spread than usual—not sure if there’s been a change. Still, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I’d definitely return. Looking forward to the next visit!

Great choice for birthday celebration and gatherings. The spread is full and huge and food NEVER runs out, even the oysters and crabs. Most of the items are fresh and tasty. As this is a halal establishment, there is no pork or alcohol. 👍👍👍👍👍

The place is crowded tonight. There is a wide spread for buffet dinner. There are sushi, crab, crayfish, oysters, prawns, mutton, beef, braised duck, laksa, chicken rice, pasta, naan, soup, fruits, cakes, cheese with biscuits, hot and cold beverages, etc. I find the various sushi tasted good whilst the other food is just average. The service is good as the service staff are quick to clear plates.

Was here for my birthday celebration from my lovely husband on Oct’24. The seafood spread was an absolute delight. The freshness of the seafood, especially the oysters, stood out. Each oyster had a briny, ocean-fresh flavor that paired perfectly with the accompanying sauces. Beyond the oysters, the variety of seafood was impressive—from succulent prawns and crab legs to tender clams and mussels. The spread also offered a wide range of dishes, ensuring something for every palate.

In addition to the seafood, the buffet also featured an extensive range of ethnic food, making it a true culinary journey. Highlights included flavorful lamb dishes, perfectly cooked chicken, fragrant rice, and delicious biryani that stood out for its rich spices and tender meat. With such a wide selection, this place offers a balanced mix of fresh seafood and diverse cultural cuisine, catering to all tastes.

For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert selection was equally satisfying. The variety ranged from rich, creamy cakes and pastries to lighter options like fresh fruit and delicate puddings, ensuring that dessert lovers were spoiled for choice. This spot truly balances fresh seafood, diverse ethnic cuisine, and indulgent desserts, making it a perfect choice for any occasion.

Did I beat the buffet #1: Carousel

Now, before you think that I would be so rich to splurge on a weekday lunch like this, do note that I would only dare come here if it were a treat, and indeed it was a work treat.

It was a common idea, coming at 12pm and seeing hordes of people (work people) coming for lunch. Those with formal wear, even seeming blue collared workers. As such, the placed was extremely packed on a Thursdy afternoon.

Service was great for that matter. Didn't feel any lack of food on the serving plates, and felt well attended to with the service staff providing water whenever I would wet my lips once in a while. Kudos to service staff as the selection was indeed quite huge.

For buffets, I will rate under three specific umbrellas, and they are:

The spread was amazing, definitely enough to fulfill even picky eaters. Quality, of course was focused on seafood. The prawns had great quality, succulent and juicy with every bite. However, the scallops were dry and unappealing. Lobster claws - a bit on the fence, while juicy felt a tad bit underwhelming. Only crime to the selection was no oysters in the afternoon, that was a bummer.

Taste was amazing, had some 5/5s which I keep on going back to. Highlights were (Prawns, Sashimi, Bread pudding, pasta bar). They had a live station pasta and I really enjoyed the chef's spicy rendition of an aglio olio (you can choose other options like squid ink pasta etc.).The bread pudding was also to die for, my gosh.

Overall, considering the weekend price of about SGD 78++, these are my scores

Hell no to getting your money's worth, only way is probably full lobster claws all the way, or a live salmon station shooting roe straight into the patron's mouth. At $80 bucks its hard to justify the pticepoint. Still, I enjoyed it when the opportunity presented itself, and you can see the 7 plates I went for before leaving a happy and well-fed customers.

*20 prawns down in 7 plates but was nowhere near beating the buffet. Okay, but my appetite does look pathetic from the pictures🫠
